The Adani Group has outlined an investment plan of more than Rs 6 lakh crore across Maharashtra, with projects worth around Rs 2.6 lakh crore already completed or under execution, Adani Enterprises director Pranav Adani said on 1 October.
The proposed investments cover energy, aviation, aero-districts, urban regeneration, data centres and coal gasification as Maharashtra works towards its target of becoming a USD 1 trillion economy by 2030. The investment programme is expected to further expand the group’s presence across the state.
Speaking at the launch of Invest Maharashtra, the state’s new investment promotion platform, Adani said the group’s commitment to Maharashtra was a core part of its broader nation-building approach. He added that the latest commitments represented a significant increase in the scale and scope of the group’s investments.
The Navi Mumbai International Airport is among the group’s major projects in Maharashtra and is being developed as a key infrastructure asset for the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. Adani said the airport would eventually have the capacity to handle more than 90 million passengers annually.
The group is also planning a residential and commercial township near the airport, based on the development model of Shantigram in Ahmedabad. It operates Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport and is developing integrated business and hospitality districts around the two aviation gateways.
Power Projects Expand
Adani Electricity Mumbai, a subsidiary of Adani Energy Solutions, supplies electricity to more than 3 million homes and establishments across Mumbai. The company said more than 60 per cent of its power supply is sourced from renewable energy, while the group continues to expand its wider energy infrastructure.
The group is developing pumped-storage hydro projects across Maharashtra and operates a 1,000 MW high-voltage direct current transmission link bringing power into Mumbai. Its investment plans also include data centres and coal gasification projects, broadening its presence across digital infrastructure and industrial energy.
Dharavi Project Focus
Urban redevelopment is another major component of the group’s Maharashtra portfolio, with the Dharavi Redevelopment Project forming a key part of its plans. Adani described the project as a people-first urban transformation programme focused on modern housing, formalisation of micro-enterprises and redevelopment of Asia’s largest informal settlement.
Adani said the group’s partnership with Maharashtra had continued for decades, while its latest commitments reflected a substantial increase in the nature, scale and conviction of its investment plans. The projects span multiple sectors and are concentrated significantly around the Mumbai Metropolitan Region.
The investment push comes as Maharashtra seeks to attract more domestic and global capital through Invest Maharashtra, a nodal mechanism aimed at converting investment proposals into projects on the ground. Adani said the platform would strengthen the process of translating investor interest into project execution across the state.
